BEMS 2019

2019 began with a plethora of new opportunities and experiences, one of my favorites being the Benthic Ecology Meeting Society’s annual conference, in St. Johns Newfoundland in early April. I was very proud of the Rutgers-CCMI student interns who turned their intensive field work into a presentation for the meeting, and got roped into moderating a session on climate change that had some truly interesting speakers discussing some novel work on benthic ecosystem and organism responses to contemporary climate changes. Not only was the conference intellectually stimulating, St. Johns was a colorful maritime city, with plenty of character and history (and beer brewed with iceberg water).
