Sadly, an ear infection has kept me out of the water this week! Of course, there was plenty to keep me busy. Top on that list was examining a small spring, just west of center on LCI. While not terribly impressive compared to the springs of Florida and Missouri, it proved to be far more than the “lack of significant fresh groundwater” commonly cited by previous explorers and researchers on the island. Coupled with other karst windows into fresh groundwater around the west and central portions of the island, there seems to be plenty of water on land to keep me occupied while I’m stuck out of the Caribbean Sea.
